After two years of being alone, keeping death at bay by sheer will, Makayla isn't sure if she was fit for humanity, much less a young girl and two teen boys.
At 19 she's seen and done things that would make your blood curdle and survived it all with the aid of her Dad's Glock, a sawed-off shotgun, her katana and the skills she learned from her Dad. But, as the days pass life is breaking her down.
Will Makayla survive the Earth that has been left or will she fall prey to what hides in the shadows?

Surviving Earth is a book I normally don’t read, but it was a recommendation and a new author for me so I thought I would try it. It had me hooked from the start. Zombies are everywhere along with the crazies that are left to take over the world. However, Makayla is left to fend for herself after the horrible virus has taken everyone she loves. Her only plan is to try to make it to California to check on her best friend, Clara. Along the way, she meets up with other survivors and begins to form a bond with them as they try to survive and make it to California. This is the first part of Makayla’s story – where she finds friends and love, unfortunately, not everything goes as planned for her. Now I can’t wait for Book 2 in Surviving Earth and I learned not to judge a book by its genre!Product details

Surviving Earth Makayla Journey eBook Cora A Murray Christina Escue Reviews
This is a fast pace story filled with on the edge of your seat suspense and horror. The main character, Mak has spend the past 2 years allow until she saves 3 siblings from a horrifying situation. Mak has to learn she's not alone any more and it's ok to accept help. The undead are not the only monsters they have to fight against and not necessarily the deadliest. She finds out quick she needs the help more then she knew. I could not put this book down. It sucked me in from page one and wouldn't let go till the very last.
I watch a lot of zombie and dystopian related films and t.v. but it isn't a genre I normally turn to for reading. However, based on my screen experience the story line follows what a fan of the genre would expect. It has a new twist that I don't think I've seen done in just this way before and it might just bring me back for more. It needs some work on the editing, flow and timing but I think if I were to continue to follow the author I would find these issues improving with each work.
I love zombies! But honestly, I don't normally read about them so this was a new experience for me. I really liked the action and the gross parts of this book. The story kept me turning the pages. I related to Makayla in some ways which made the story more enjoyable. I can't imagine having to live in the world she's been thrust into. I don't think I'd survive as she does. I'm excited for the next story in this series and plan on starting it very soon.
I love this book, it makes you think how would you survive if this happen to you.
In this book you a young girl looking for her friends and how she meets others along the way and they become a family. It show the struggles along the way but they all help each other out.
Cora Murray did a fantastic job on developing the characters as long with the storyline. This book is one you can't put down because you want to know what happens next.
I would recommend this book to everyone.
Cora can write one helluva story! She is the first author to introduce me to a post-apocalyptic world where the main character is a 19-yr-old young woman who can handle weapons like they are extensions of her arm! Reminds me of myself although I'm no longer young! I love this young survivalist!!
Cora's writing is fast-paced and suspenseful with some twists and turns. She is very accurate in terms of weaponry used, and her characters are very real and very believable as to how they handle what is happening in their sudden new world.
It's about a world gone wrong and how one is able to survive. I recommend "Surviving Earth Makayla's Journey". Her story doesn't stop with this book though. Happy reading!
Another winner!
I LOVE LOVE zombie stories and love when authors come up with different actions zombies do. And Cora A. Murray's zombies are different from other zombies in books. They also change a lot, especially at the end. Which lends the mystery to the tale.
Mak is a strong, resilient female lead. She can take care of herself and proves it as she has wandered the earth for 2 years alone. She meets up with what will become a family to her when she runs across them. The people ( said with gritted teeth ) mean the kids harm but Mak rescues them and they travel together. She is their protector. They come across more people and one becomes a love interest. Logan is a good guy and does what he can to help her protect the group. There are many good times and unfortunately more bad times. Yet they never give up.
Mak is traveling cross country in the beginning to find her best friend. Will she find her? You will have to read the book to find out.
I loved this story. I ran the gamut of emotions, from happy to sad, to heartbroken. I bawled like a baby in parts.Which, for me, is a sign of a good author. I also could see the story playing in my head, like a movie and with actors I felt would be perfect with Cora A. Murray's story.
In closing, I loved the story and hope there will be more. If you like zombies, this is for you. If you like stories about friends who persevere through bad times, grab this.
This is first for me reading about zombies. I have never really been a zombie girl, so I am not sure if this is a different twist on zombies or not. I did find this story very engaging. Makayla is a survivor and has been on her own for at least two years. We meet up with her as she takes in some stray survivors and they become like a family. What I didn't expect to find was love. With love comes loss and the hope for better days ahead. As much as I'm not into zombies, I would totally follow this series to see what happens next. The characters I found to be well developed even with death surrounding them at every turn. This reads smoothly and pretty fast paced. I am reviewing this book on my own accord as part of a reviewing group. 4/5 Cross posting to My Reading Reality and
